today was a walking filled day. todd took today off, so the four of us started out the day with luncfest at cupcake jones. we met a couple of their friends there and ate some yummy cupcakes. my jumbo one was marionberry filled white cupcake with marionberry frosting. joel's was some kind of chocolate. i also had a 'mini pearl'... haha. it was white chocolate cake. mmmm.
i was trying to be artsy fartsy with this photo...
this is my half eaten jumbo cupcake:

our approximate number of steps that we walked today (according to todd's pedometer) was 21,600. thats around eleven miles (a lot of it going uphill). woot. i think i got my daily exercise today!
after cupcakes, we proceeded to go on an uphill "walk" through southeast portland and up to mt. tabor to have a picnic lunch.
[sidenote-we had a clarification today on the difference between "walk" and "hike". julia says walks are through non-nature areas; hikes are through nature areas. i say walks are easy; hikes are grueling. she said we were going on a walk to have a picnic; i thought "yay! leisurely exercise and food". ha.]
by her definition, we went on mostly a walk. by mine, we went on a HIKE. it was grueling; my body was yelling at me. the cupcakes didn't help. i really need to get back in shape! anyway, here are some things we saw/did on, what i like to call, our "hike":
posed in front of nice bushes.
tried to eat mt. hood:
saw interesting port-a-potties with interesting names... (honey bucket???)
climbed steep hills... and more steep hills... and more steep hills...
ate good food and saw beautiful views.
overall, the walk/hike was well worth it. i enjoyed it very much!
tonight, we ate delicious pizza for dinner:
